What is the forms of a verb?

Forms of verb is adding little shape to the meaning of a verb according the situation.

For example we do little changes to the main verb while telling about the verb(action) occur, occurred or will occur. Like the action occurred now, few minutes back, few hours back, long back, occurs on regular basis, occurring now, was occurring in the past, will be occurring in the future. So based on this situations we do changes to the meaning of main verb and that is called forms of a verb.

There are five types of forms for a verb in English language.
  1. Base Form
  2. Past Form
  3. Past Partciple Form
  4. s/is/ies Form(Third person singular)
  5. "ing" Form

Base Form

Base form is exactly the same as main verb, no changes to that. We use the form when we indicate an action that is occurring regularly or on a daily basis.

Examples:

I go to market
You dance well
you read newspaper
They play cricket

Past Form

This form we use when indicate an action happened recently, few minutes back or few hours back but it is no long back.

Examples:

I went to market
You danced well
Your read newspaper
They played cricket

Past Participle Form

We use this form when we indicate an action that happend in the past but in the form of present.

Examples:

I have gone to market
You have danced well
you have read news paper
He has gone to market
John has bought a book

s/es/ies Form(Third person singular)

This form we use only at third person singular. Like "He, She, It, John(any name) that is single, not more than 1. This form is same as base form, but at their person singular we add "s/es/ies" to the verb.

Examples:

He goes to the market
She dances well
John plays cricket
Maria writes stories

"ing" Form
We use this form when we indicate an action that is happening, going on or in progress now,  or was happening or occurring in the past, or will be happening in the future.

Examples:

He is going to market
I am reading a news paper
John is playing cricket
She is dancing well
They are writing books
